Clipwell
A fast, cross-platform clipboard history any app can query, listen to, and drive.
Clipwell is a clipboard‑history manager built as a headless daemon with a thin picker on top. The daemon watches your clipboard, stores typed history in SQLite, and exposes everything over a public API — REST, WebSocket/SSE, and MCP — so the picker, the CLI, editor extensions, and AI agents are all just clients of the same contract.
Follow what's new for dated product updates with source links and theme-aware captures.
Why Clipwell
Fast
The picker is pre‑warmed and appears in about one display frame (≈16 ms measured) on a global hotkey.
A rich picker
Compact & Detail views, hover + Quick Look, type/pin/sensitive filters, grouping by date or source, rename, and a Ctrl+K action palette.
Queryable by anything
REST for one‑shot calls, WebSocket/SSE to stream changes, MCP so AI agents can read and act.
Cross‑platform
Windows, macOS, and Linux behind one clipboard‑watcher interface.
Typed items, favicons, source
Classified (url, github‑pr, jira, email, color, path, code, image), with site favicons, image thumbnails, and the app each item was copied from.
Extensible
Detectors and Ctrl+K actions load as plugins through a small public contract.
